Marcela Mariz was born in Rio de Janeiro and is an actress, writer, lawyer and a monthly columnist at The Orange County Register in southern California, where she currently lives and works for a multinational in the aerospace industry.
She had her first play produced at the age of 17 and since then she has written around 40 works, including plays, sketches and scripts. As an actress, she worked in several theater plays, like the Rocky Horror Show and Our Town, acted in television in Brazilian soap operas, and in movies like Belline and the Devil, Charlie, Expulsion, among others.
She writes with a dynamic, lighthearted and straightforward style, connected to both contemporary and timeless issues, as displayed in her comedy O Jogo da Conquista (2006), which traveled through several cities in Brazil, and in the more than twenty plays she completed for Brazilian companies, such as Petrobras and Samarco.
She continues to develop new stories for print and screen.
